“The mixing, the texture, the risk and the mess in my studio came back in only two hours. Three months passed, now I have these 10 small paintings to remind myself of what I did before the computer became a part of my creative life. I discovered how much I missed it.
Each of these paintings began with a few small thumbnail concept sketches, I re-draw the sketch with acrylic paint on canvas. I try to concern myself with the overall shapes and how they move through the space. Designing these shapes, editing, adding and subtracting to them until they work together to create abstracted landscapes, flora, and fauna. My inspiration comes from flat shape vector art, mid-century illustration, sci-fiction, color theory and two dimensional design course work in college. These pictures are an escape from the confines of an assignment providing an opportunity to do whatever I desire and to pursue that line of thought for as long as it remains interesting to me.
I completely enjoyed my return to canvas and thank all of my friends and family who provided the positive support to help make it happen. I won’t wait another ten years to do the next painting.” – Tim
