January 18, 2010–We have contributed all of yesterday’s sales for aid to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Your purchases and tips to the string quartet from the North Carolina Symphony, who provided morning entertainment, totaled $2,804.15. One third of this amount has been sent to Direct Relief International (www.directrelief.org), Americares (www.americares.org), and the United Nation’s children’s agency, UNICEF (www.unicef.org). The first two of these organizations are low overhead, reliable emergency aid providers with people already on the ground in Haiti before the disaster.
Thanks to all who responded, your help is on the way.
Gratefully,
Gray Medlin and the Helios Staff
