“I recently returned to Raleigh after an Artist-in-Residency at Dinosaur National Monument. As an artist and a scientific illustrator, I still yearn to understand the world around me and share that interpretation with others through my art. I find beauty and meaning simply by being aware; by examining each detail that surrounds me and immortalizing it in my work. My art is an exploration of the natural world, from chasing down small winged insects and illustrating their anatomy, to recreating mammoth dinosaurs from ancient long-gone worlds. I paint so that maybe, somebody 50 years from now, will know the same shimmer on the wing of an insect that I once sat patiently with in the desert.” – Liz Bradford
